About Me

“One glance at a book and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for 1,000 years. To read is to voyage through time.” – Carl Sagan

The idea for this blog started simply; I love to read. As early as I can remember I begged my Mom and Dad to take me to the local library where I discovered the worlds of Little House on the Prairie, Anne of Green Gables, Harry Potter, heroines such as Cleopatra, Joan of Arc and countless more. Into my teenage years this grew into a love of Stephen King, Lord of the Rings, Jodi Picoult, and devouring books about the Romanov’s and the World Wars. Present-day you’ll find my nose in a book most mornings on my train ride to work, and a never-ending holds list at the library. I wanted to have a place where I could put my thoughts and book reviews, and thus Mainely Reads was born.

I’m currently living in the Boston area but I’m born and raised in Maine. (Get it? Maine-ly reads). When I’m not reading you’ll find me visiting family and friends in Maine, trying new restaurants, drinking wine, and traveling the world over. (I’ve visited 36 countries!)

I hope you enjoy, and thanks for reading!
